Masanao Hirayama
“3444”

Masanao Hirayama (HIMAA) is a drawing artist based in Tokyo.
His unique installation and performance at NOW IDeA by Utrecht last year, in which he got inside a home-made copy machine and drew what visitors put in on demand, is still fresh in our minds. He is known for his self-made zines he has been making since 2007, which have been published by Nieves in Switzerland and innen in Hungary, also invited to some art book fairs overseas and internationally appreciated in recent years.
-
This “3444” is the first project which he work on under the name of his real name, changed from his previous pen name “HIMAA”. It features not only each charm of more than 500 new drawings but also its visual sequence.
-
Bound by “EN Binding” registered as a Utility Model, the book opens easily regardless of its thick volume, which prevents double-page pictures from distortion.
