Buku Akiyama is an artist who compose a space improvisatory with what is there. This publication is a documentary photo collection of his solo exhibition held at FARM, the exhibit space in Kiyosumi, Tokyo, for the first time in 7 years since he presented a work in 2001 and went silent after that.
-
In the installation, only the equipments in a warehouse next to the space were used, just piled up without any conversion or coloring. They were put back perfectly where it had belonged after the exhibition.
-
It is a document in distinctive collaboration with photographer Masahito Yamamoto, who interpreted the installation freely, shot it and composed the pages while auther had no involvement in shooting or editing.
The book designed by schtücco/minus looks like its spine is damaged, but actually a front cover, which was once completed, is teared off on purpose. In addition, the colophon, which is generally positioned at the end of the book in ordinary Japanese book, is in front and doubles as a cover.
